Fotograf Selea: There is a magical place not far from the hustle and bustle of Auckland City called Karekare. No beach brings out the same feelings in me as that beach does. With no hesitation it was my first suggestion for their elopement.
Two weeks later I met them on the car park at the beach. They had gotten ready in their rented vintage volkswagen that morning, and Sofie had picked different types of grass to maker her own rustic bouquet. She had a flower in her hair, and Roland had put the same flower in his picket. So simple, but at the same time exactly how they wanted it! We started off with photographing them together with their orange 1973 combi. The van was the highlight of their New Zealand roadtrip they said (after getting married of course!)
Afterwards we wandered through the bush to the stunning waterfalls. We snapped a few shots before we took a stroll to the black sand beach a couple of hundered meters away. The black sand at Karekare Beach is caused by volcanic activity, as if the location wasn’t cool enough already! It made a dramatic backdrop for the final portraits. After this little session the drove off in their vintage van, and got married in the city of Auckland.
