Bohemiskt Destinationsbröllop I Spanien: Loredana + Jonathan
We met through work. I lived in Romania and he lived in Sweden, we both work in IT and after a few years of distance relationship, I decided to move to Sweden to live with my soulmate. Our engagement was in Positano, Italy, where we were also initially planned to get married before discovering the lovely town of Altea.
Jonathan proposed me in a very romantic way, during a surprise intimate dinner at one of those beautiful restaurants in Amalfi with panoramic view over the coast. He ordered a custom made ring made in Sorrento just 5 days before the proposal. I guess he got lucky that it came in time :) It was fantastic!
Bröllopstemat
We wanted a chilled bohemian wedding with romantic, trendy details. In our original cultures (Romania and Armenia), weddings are too glamorous, and in Sweden, weddings are too minimalist. We wanted something in between: elegant, discreet, a bit rustic and modern. Something that represented us. Boho, macrame and the bridal gown inspired the decoration, whilst the zig zag lights over the table were such a love crush; we just knew that, in combination with the location, they’d be fabulous!
I think the location inspired a lot from the wedding details. My dream was to have an Italian type of wedding, the kind you see in Pinterest boards with a lot of greenery, a long table and many candles and flowers. Boho-chic but stylish.
Om klädseln
I was wearing a dress created by Otilia Brailoiu, a Romanian designer from my hometown world-famous for her choice in natural, sophisticated materials, delicate floating fabrics, translucent tulles.
My dress is Penelope from her collection Cruise. The dress was exactly what I dreamed of, romantic, soft, light, I felt sexy in it and innocent at the same time. It felt like the dress was made for my personality. I had to fly all the way to Romania 2 times to try it out as it was of course custom made. And it was so worthy.
Jonathan wanted to go all classic. He was wearing a taylor fit Hugo Boss suit and shoes, an Eton shirt and Tom Ford accessories.
Styling och accessoarer
To complement the dress I was wearing a pair of Aquazurra gold sandals, a pair of statement gold earrings that I received as gift from my best friend in Turkey and I decided that I will wear flowers in my hair instead of a classic veil.
Blommorna
Speaking about flowers, we let Paloma decide what flowers she will use in our design. I showed her my moodboard with colors, red, white & powder pink wild roses, and lots of greenery. My bouquet was (in my opinion) the most beautiful I've ever seen! I literally cried when I saw it in the morning of the wedding. We also had matching flowers in the ring box, on the tables, candy bar, on the cake and decorated much of the old ruins for the ceremony.
Macrame played a big role in the decoration, used on the tables, on the cake but also Paloma designed the prettiest table plan in full macrame which at night was illuminated by lightbulbs, turning it from table plan to the most beautiful backdrop where guests (and us) could take photos.
The cooper chairs at the long table were an exclusive design detail and made the whole scene a bit more glossy and trendy.
Platsen för bröllopet
A magical finca with the most beautiful view over the Old Town of Altea. Our ceremony was at the top of the finca under some old ruins which were tastefully decorated with greens and roses by our wedding designer Paloma Cruz, one of Spains most talented. Huge gardens of olive trees, lots of greenery. But the most fabulous thing is the palace. The Palacete was built in the center of the finca, back in 1924 by the architect Francisco Mora for the “Marquis de Montemolar” as a recreational Finca when he visited Altea. We decided to have our cocktail party and dinner outside in front of the finca, and that gave the wedding such a romantic vibe.
Vigseln
The ceremony took place in the viewpoint with stricking 360º views of the entire bay of Altea, old town and surrounding mountains.
We chose to have an orthodox ceremony, outdoors. It was a challenge to plan that, but we flew over our priest from Sweden with all the details he needed. The crowns you see in the photos during the ceremony, they symbolize that Christ establishes the couple as the King and Queen of their home, which they rule with wisdom, justice, and integrity. The crowns used in the Orthodox wedding ceremony also refer to the crown of martyrdom, since every true marriage involves self-sacrifice on both sides. Traditional and romantic.
Bästa minnet från dagen
Jonatan's favourite moment of all, as he describes it, was when he saw me walking down the aisle. However, as a couple, taking a break in the middle of everything for a private shooting session with our photographers and videographers was the best moment. The sunset was amazing, the light was fantastic, the surroundings were sensational, and the whole vibe was so romantic. That was when we realised that we had just got married! The photos say it all.
Om bröllopsfotografen
Sofia is an old friend of ours and we were so happy she could be with us in Spain and get all our favourite moments on camera! We also had a more chill photo shoot the day after just the 2 of us with her, on the streets of Altea and on the beach "trashing the dress" as they say. It was fantastic and such a fun experience. She made us feel so comfortable and knew how to guide us throughout the whole thing. The photos basically became viral and people I didn't know started asking me where did we get married and wanted more details about the wedding and the photos.
Tips till andra som planerar bröllop
Get a good wedding planner/designer who has a large portfolio of collaborators and has beautiful photos online showing what they can.
Invest in beautiful illumination, especially if you celebrate outdoors.
The decoration and music sets the vibe and atmosphere of the wedding, choose wisely.
If there's anything both me and Jonathan regret is not having enough photos together with our guests, friends and family. Make sure your wedding coordinator adds some space in the schedule for that.
