Josh and I met in Auckland, New Zealand in January 2020. I'm from Sweden, but I had lived in New Zealand for 6 months at that point. We went on a first date, but Josh had decided that long distance would be too hard. After about two months of only being friends, I told him that I didn't just want to be friends after all. And Josh decided to give dating a go! This was the weekend just before the whole world closed their boarders, so because of Josh, I decided to stay in New Zealand all through lockdown and up until my visa expired in December last year. Josh followed me in March, and we got engaged on the 27th of March. We had already planned it, but it still caught me off guard!
Bröllopsplaneringen
Because Joshys family couldn't fly over from New Zealand, we decided to do a really tiny wedding with only my closest family and friends. Our pastor that we wanted to marry us only had a licence to marry in Northern Ireland, so we planned to get married legally some other way.
Josh and I are both picky people. It took us ages to find a venue where we both felt satisfied with.
I then found a competition on Instagram, saying that a group of wedding planners, florists, and photographers were giving away a wedding day to a lucky couple (!!) and with only two weeks so go to the planned date, Josh and I entered, and won. I just so happened to have an extra wedding dress lying around (as you do) from a styled shoot I was planning to have.
Styling och accessoarer
For our Sigtuna Wedding I decided to just curl my hair. I kept things simple, but I still felt beautiful!
Platsen för bröllopet
Sigtunastiftelsen was a beautiful place. The trees had just started blooming and we got pleasantly surprised by how nice it was!
Om klädseln
Joshua already had a good suit. It is green and it suited him very well. For our Sigtuna wedding I used a dress that I got for a very discounted price. I had it because I had planned to do a styled photoshoot for my newly started photography business. So I decided to use that dress instead of my main one to make both days more special.
Blommorna
Bloomspourmoi made my Sigtuna bouquet. It was made purely out of flowers, and the colours were white and beige. Super cute!
Vigseln
Our Sigtuna Ceremony was only five minutes long. The venue was super lovely, and it defiantly felt special despite it being super last minute and sort. Our celebrant wanted to take a photo with us, and everyone gave us a little card and some small gifts. Super lovely!
Vigselringarna
I had a good friend down in New Zealand that also was Swedish. I used to go to her and we made silver jewellery togehter. When Josh and I started to talk about marriage and engagement rings, I said that it would be so lovely if I could design the rings myself, and if Petra could make them for me. It felt like the rings had a part of New Zealand and a part of Sweden in them, not to mention that I love my rings so so much! They are absolutely perfect!
Bästa minnet från dagen
My best memory from Sigtunastiftelsen must have been our photo session after the ceremony. I loved being in front of the camera and seeing how photographer Birgit Walsh and videographer Emma Eriksson worked their magic. Very inspirational for me as a photographer myself! But standing there next to Josh was also special. Now I understand what all the couples I photograph feel next to their spouse on their wedding day!
We were lucky enough to have a lot of people documenting our day! At Sigtuna we had Birgit Walsh and Emma Eriksson as our photographer and videographer. I can not believe we got all of that for free. I feel so blessed!
Tips till andra
Because we experienced two very lovely yet different wedding days, one that was completely planned for us, and one that we created completely by our selves, we have seen benefits of a wedding planner! One thing you don't want to remember is how stressed you were, and hiring a wedding planner that can sort a lot of details out for you is a huge help!
Middag/Fest
After the ceremony at Sigtunastiftelsen we and some bubbles, and then we took some photos. Afterwards we had afternoon Tea with my parents and two of my friends! It was all served and prepared for us.
