Idag ska vi får ta del av Karins och Austins firande när de förnyade sina löften den 2 oktober 2021 i Gagnef Kyrka i Dalarna. Karin är född i Sverige men bor i Florida, USA, tillsammans med sin familj sedan flera år. Karin och Austin gifte sig egentligen redan i april 2020, men på grund av covid-19 blev det inget friande med släkt och vänner. Nu, 1,5 år senare, bjöd de däremot in till fest och förnyelse av löften tillsammans med sina närmaste.

Karin är döpt efter sin mammas syster som gick bort i ung ålder och som är begravd vid Gagnef Kyrka. Karins morföräldrar har sedan dess drömt om att även få uppleva ett glatt firande i samma kyrka som en hyllning. Karin och Austin såg till att den drömmen äntligen blev sann och nu ska vi få ta del av den dagen.

Det som är speciellt med bröllopsbilderna här är att många bilder är fotograferade av bruden själv, som arbetar som fotograf (Karin Maria Photography). Vid porträtten fick hon hjälp av sin kusin som tog över arbetet, för att sedan redigera själv i efterhand. Detta blev en nödlösning efter att deras tänkta fotograf inte kunde ta sig till Sverige pågrund av stängda gränser. Men tack vare Karins egna skills, blev det hur bra som helst ändå! Tillsammans med Karins bröllopsberättelse får vi nu uppleva deras firande.

Så träffades brudparet

Karin: We met 5 years ago through mutual friends. We became great friends before we started dating. Austin actually proposed to me at Gagnef Kyrka on Midsommar in 2018. He knew how important the church was for me and wanted me to be able to celebrate our engagement with my family in Sweden.

Bröllopsplaneringen

Karin: We wanted to bring out the beauty of fall and Dalarna. We kept the decor minimal to bring out the beauty of the location. We used many of the antiques my grandparents own in our decor and used fall colors to tie in the season.
I was inspired by the culture in Dalarna. I was born in Dalarna and it has always been a huge part of who I am even living in America. I wanted to highlight the natural beauty of Dalarna. I also wanted our wedding to be intimate and family oriented because family is the most important to us.

Om klädseln

I wore a Made with Love gown embellished with floral details. I also wore a borrowed white fur coat from my grandmother. My husband wore a charcoal suit from Jos A Bank with a Dazi tie that tied in our florals.
I kept styling Minimal. I stuck with a clean white dinner table decorate with some natural fall grass from the field. I also used fall colored candle sticks and roses in the color of my bouquet.

Blommorna

My bouquet was actually a surprise. My aunts in Sweden asked my mom what I wanted and surprised me with my dream bouquet. I wanted a Whimsicle bouquet where the flowers danced in the wind and that is exactly what I got. It was more beautiful than I ever dreamt of.

Vigseln

As a child, I spent all my summers at my grandparents property in Gagnef. I have so many beautiful memories of Midsommar and Christmas spent there with my family. I am named after my mother’s sister who passed away as a child, Karin. She is buried at Gagnef Kyrka and it was always my grandparents dream to have a joyful celebration there. For as long as I can remember I wanted to make that happen by having my wedding there. When my husband and I had to replan our wedding due to covid we knew we had to have our wedding in Gagnef Kyrka.
My grandfather had a classic Dalarna folk band play as we walked in and out of the church. Ingemar Ihlis actually played at my parents wedding as well and he now played at ours. My cousin Alex, also sang us a beautiful song during the ceremony.

As the band walked us out of the church my family waited for us outside and as we walked out rain drops lightly fell (I say this is good luck). The band continued to play for us as we all celebrated outside the church.

Bästa minnet från dagen

Karin: My favorite memory from the day is when my Morfar danced with my to “En Kväll I Juni” outside of the church. He always wanted to dance with me to that song on my wedding day. He spontaneously asked the band to play the song and he kicked off his shoes and threw his jacket on the ground and we danced.
I also just love the memory of all of us being together. It had been 3 years since all my family got together because of covid so being able to hug one another and be together was the best feeling in the world.
