Vi vet hur mycket ni tycker om bröllopsberättelserna här på Sisters in Law, de är riktigt populära. Idag har vi äran att få dela med oss av en liten miniberättelse från det fantastiska Lake Tahoe, Kalifornien. VILD Photography och brudparet Whitney och Richard tar oss med på ett underbart naturbröllop i de härliga skogarna som finns runt om den populära skidorten. Vi dyker direkt in i bröllopet och lämnar över ordet till det lyckliga brudparet.

Richard: We met in college at the University of Oregon in 2006. We dated there for a while and then went our separate ways, but remained friends. One night, after 8 years or so of dating other people and living in different parts of the country, Whitney drank way too much rose and broached the topic of getting back together. The rest is history.

Whitney:
Richard proposed at the top of KT-22 at Squaw Valley while we were skiing, in front of a gorgeous tree with a backdrop of Lake Tahoe. He had scoped out the spot on a previous visit to Squaw. Note: Richard completely terrified me because he convinced me we were going up there past the “Experts Only” sign to ski down (not knowing he was going to propose, of course), fortunately, after he proposed we went the easier way down.

Richard’s long-time friend, Mac, officiated our wedding, and the three of us worked closely together to create a ceremony that was authentic to me and Richard and our relationship; Mac also threw in some personal touches that got both laughs and tears.

Whitney: We knew we wanted an outdoor wedding in the woods and that we would have people traveling from all over to come to our wedding, so we wanted to have it somewhere people would enjoy and where we could have everyone in one place and not worry about transportation, and truly be able to spend time together. The area around Lake Tahoe is special both because it was where the proposal took place and because Richard’s family has gone there regularly since he was a kid. They’d stayed at Granlibakken once when he was growing up, so it was recognizable when we were searching for possible venues. Granlibakken had the onsite accommodations we were hoping for, a low-key vibe, and the property possesses a lot of natural beauty.

Whitney: Both of us and our families connect strongly with the outdoors, so we wanted to have an outdoor wedding in the woods. I don’t know that we had an exact vision beyond that, but like many right now, I could feel myself leaning towards a boho vibe in terms of the dresses me and my bridesmaids chose. Because we had the wedding outdoors, we wanted something a bit on the rustic side. Richard and I wanted to make sure the wedding was something of our mutual creation, so we did the vast majority of the planning together. More than anything else, we had the absolute best vendors, and everything really came together organically!

Richard dabbles in calligraphy and wrote names on the escort cards for everyone. It was a very sweet touch!

Whitney: Honestly, we just kind of let things unfold naturally. I definitely spent a lot of time on Pinterest and Instagram, and while helpful, I think it may have been more overwhelming than anything. There is so much beautiful inspiration out there, but it sort of left me feeling lost. Things started to take shape after my bridesmaids chose their dresses. I used that to inform our flower colors, but I had previously decided I wanted a bit of blue incorporated (maybe because I am from Alaska and our state flower is the Forget-Me-Not). Somewhere along the line I saw some photos of terrarium centerpieces and fell in love with that look. I looked at a lot of our florist’s previous work (Meghon with Love and Lupines), which is all so beautiful, and worked with her to create something unique for our day.
