I augusti 2018 gifte sig Monica och Casper på en idyllisk herrgård i Vesthimmerland, 20 minuter söder om Aalborg i Danmark. Flera av de 106 gästerna sov över på gården och spenderade en hel välplanerad helg i brudparets sällskap. Paret planerade det mesta själva, och i dagens blogginlägg låter vi Monica berätta om allt från förberedelserna, till klädsel, styling, schema och aktiviteter - en minst sagt fullspäckad helg! Med sig hade de fotograf Martin Friedel som de fick kontakt med genom Instagram. Med hjälp av hans bilder och brudens ord ska vi nu drömma oss bort till en sensommardag där några regndroppar inte tilläts stå i vägen för glädje, gemenskap och kärlek.

Så träffades paret

Monica: We met at a bar called "Bar Smile" seven years ago in Aarhus. We got engaged in May 2017 in California on a road-trip holiday. We were hiking the four mile trail in Yosemite National Park when Casper proposed at the top of the mountains with an outstanding view.

Klädsel

Monica: I wanted a dress that was romantic, modern, cool and sweet. I also wanted to be able to move and dance in it. I wanted laces and tulle to be part of the dress in a light way. At first I found the Rime Arodaky Alvin dress to be the one, and I went to London with a friend to try it on since it was not available here in Denmark. When I tried it on I was not 100% sure. Then I visited SayOui in Denmark and tried out a few different dresses, but non of them had the romantic sweetness over it that I wanted. So I designed my own tull veil from the hip inspired from the Alvin dress and got a very talented tailor, Danish Appeal, to execute the design which she did to perfection! I think she was as exited as I was to see the result.

Casper got in touch with a tailor situated in Bangkok who custom made his suit. It took some time to get it all right, the tailor went to Copenhagen several times and we also visited him in Bangkok on a holiday in Thailand.

Styling

Monica: We both chose everything ourselves and from different places. For example - Casper had details as a pocket watch, tie etc from his uncle. I wore a bracelet that was a gift from my mom (who is not alive anymore), I borrowed garters from my sister, added a blue hand-bag and a pair of new shoes and earrings. We designed the rings and the earrings ourselves with help from the jeweller Handcrafted Cph.

Om valet av lokal, Sebber Kloster

We wanted a location that was rustic, charming and yet romantic. At the same time we wanted the location to be a place where we could decide all the details ourselves and party all night long. Last but not least we wanted the place all to ourselves and to be able to accommodate quite a few of our guests. Sebber Kloster was the perfect choice to fit these criterias. It is an old monastery that has a charming main building with a beautiful garden to set the frame for the daytime wedding, and a big rustic and romantic barn for the evening.
The ceremony took place in the small church at the monastery. It was very romantic, and too see all our friends and family was very special! After the ceremony we drove away for a short ride on my dads motorbike.

Tema och inspiration

We did not have a wedding theme, but we wanted to bring our personalities into everything and to make it real. As examples I can mention that we used my dad's old Nimbus motorcycle to drive away after the ceremony. My dad made a lot of effort in styling the motorcycle for the day and I know he enjoyed it. Caspers uncle lives in Bourgogne in France and we drove by car in May to go wine tasting with him and his husband in Chablis and Bourgogne. We choose the wines for our wedding and took them with us home after a wonderful holiday. We also went to a french flea market to buy decorations. Casper knew the chef from his childhood. We both love ice-cream and instead of cake we had an ice cream truck in the afternoon to serve the best ice creams. We found inspiration from a lot of different places and incorporated things that we wanted ourselves. We used Instagram a lot!

Friday:
We invited our closest friends and family to a chill evening with BBQ and beers (most of them where staying at the monestery).
Saturday:
12.00 Ceremony
13.00 Afternoon in the main building + garden.
13.30 Ice cream from the ice cream booth named "Trille".
15.00 Tapas and petanque.
17.30 Dinner in the barn.
22.30 Drinks!
00.00 Wedding waltz and live-band.
03.00 DJ and late-night snack.

We wanted the afternoon to be chill, lounge-vibes and we had ice creams, a DJ was playing, there was bolas games, the chef served tapas and there was a lot of rosé and Crément de Bourgogne. We wanted to change the set for the evening which we did with dinner-music, the barn all decorated by us with big help from Caspers parents. The party with drinks and a live band that played until 03.00 and DJ afterwards - the party ended at 05-06 in the morning.

Sunday:
We got the chef to serve brunch for everybody at 10.00. It was a perfect way to say goodbye to everyone after the best wedding ever!

We used Instagram to find our photographer, Martin. We were searching for a photographer with a special vibe and style in his pictures and it was very important for us that he was able to capture the special moments. Martin Friedel did an excellent job! He invited us to meet him for a beer a few months before the wedding to talk and to shoot some pictures. We had a very nice time and found him cool, professional and down-to-earth. We are very happy with our choice.

Blomster och dekorationer

We wanted the flowers to be eucalyptus and in a wild/bohemian style with colours in white and green. We found decorations from different places. We wanted gold, green, white-ish. We bought all the candle holders and small bowls for sea-salt ourselves. We rented tables, table cloths, napkins, dishes, cutlery, glasses etc. from 2 different places - Nortable and Nordjysk udlejning.

For the afternoon-part, we bought all the decorations for the bar and the dance floor and decorated it ourselves. We had a wall of pictures of us and we rented a photo booth. We rented light chains and used quite some time to set them up in the ceiling of the barn.

Bästa minnet från dagen

Monica: I can't choose one, but to have all our friends and family celebrate the day of our love together with us was nothing short of magical all the way!! Our advice to others is to make it your own, plan your wedding so you don't end up stressing about it. We made everything ourselves and enjoyed it all the way.
