Victoria och Philip gifte sig den 13 augusti 2016 i Gunnarskog kyrka i Värmland. Ni kommer att få läsa denna bröllopsberättelse delvis på svenska och delvis på engelska, då Philip är från Storbritannien. Det var även där de träffades 2007, på ett ishockeyfält på universitetet där de båda studerade.

Bröllopsfotografen Angeliqa Daldorph, som fotograferar under namnet Asora Photography, har dokumenterat deras dag som vi nu ska få ta del av.

Victoria berättar

Vi träffades 2007 på ishockeyfältet då vi båda spelade ishockey på Warwick University i England, där vi också studerade. Under en resa till Åre 2015 friade Philip. Vi åkte hundspann en vinterkväll tidigt i januari 2015, genom skogar och över frusna sjöar i Åre. Tillslut kom vi fram till en liten stuga i skogen där vi fick jättegod mat och gott vin. Mitt uppe i kantarellsoppan så satte sig Philip på knä och ’popped the question’. Samma år flyttade vi till Göteborg.

Philip berättar

We enjoyed our meal and wine, then Victoria drove the dog sled home through the falling snow and full moon. Afterwards we drank champagne and then sat by our own cozy log fire and called our parents to let them know the good news.

Både Philip och jag är ganska långa så kan ha svårt att hitta kläder som passar bra. Därför var både klänning och kostymen skräddarsydda. Jag ville ha en klänning som passade ett värmlandsbröllop – fin, klassisk med några detaljer men ändå enkel och bekväm. Jag var på Ivory and Grace i Göteborg och kan verkligen varmt rekommendera stället, jättemysigt och fantastisk service!

Sedan ville vi ha blått till brudnäbbar och groomsmen, tjejernas klänningar var olika nyanser av blått och killarna fick blåa flugor (blå är min favoritfärg).

Philip berättar

I have always dreamed of having a tailored suit for my wedding – tall and thin, I wanted a modern slim cut, but with a material more reminiscent of classic English styles – I finally chose a dark blue lightweight flannel which has a lovely brushed finish.

Om skorna

Many years ago, my great great-grandfather started a successful shoe business in England called Grenson, which still is in business today (although no longer owned by the family). So the make of shoes, Grenson, was easy to pick – I opted for a light Chestnut brogue shoe and picked a matching belt. It really meant a lot to me and my mother that I was married while wearing Grenson shoes – like so many of my fore-fathers. Another nod to classic English style was the bow ties – the subtle pattern of the material “Glenjade” is a classic print from Liberty of London’s archives – light pink for myself and light blue for the boys and Dads. I also had an old gold pocket watch inherited from my Grandfather and handmade elk shaped pewter cufflinks – which was a wedding day gift from Victoria (I also wants to be king of the forest).

We decorated the venue with bunting made by Philip’s aunt (used at all the family weddings – she makes each couple an arch with their names on it) and then lots and lots of warm white fairy lights hanging everywhere possible, to add a cosy level of lighting. The tables were decorated with simple but effective roses and candles in jam jars collected by Victoria.

We had many pieces of birchwood cut from an old tree that previous stood in Victoria’s grandmother’s garden – which we used as decoration and to stand candels etc on. We decorated the large balcony in the same way to give people a nice place to relax and cool down from all the dancing, but provided some blankets so they didn’t get too cold.

Victoria berättar

Min släkt har bott i Gunnarskog i snart 400 år, och Gunnarskogskyrka är där släkten döps, vigs och begravs. Det är en underbar plats vid sjön. Känslorna går knappast att beskriva, men det kändes så rätt och härligt att kunna gifta sig med Philip och också att ha all familj och alla vänner runt omkring oss. Det var overkligt att kunna samla alla de som betyder mest för oss och kunna fira en sådan dag. Jag var så glad hela dagen!

Musiken var viktig för oss – i kyrkan sjöng min fina kusin Emelie Värmlandsvisan och How long will I love you. Vi blandade engelska och svenska psalmer.

One of our favourite musicians is Ludevico Einaudi, so Victoria walked in to his music and then we had more of his music after dinner.

Vi ville hålla dekorationerna i kyrkan simpel, vi tycker att kyrkan och Brunskog är så fina som de är. Vi använde enkla blommor och min släkt byggde en äreport och tog in björkar i kyrkan.

So many of our guests said how wonderful she was – Angelica was so lovely, natural, friendly and fitted in so well that many people, as if she was just another one of our friends. When we first met her it was so clear that she understood what we wanted, she took beautiful photos and would be the right choice – it felt like such a big decision and we were both so relieved as soon as we chose to go with Angeliqa.

Outside, we used hurricane oil lamps to light the path out to the jetty (where there were more white fairy lights, stretching out into the lake), hung soft white paper lanterns in the trees and had our names spelled out in (fire proof!) paper bags on the end of the jetty, each lit with a small candle.

Inspired by my school’s chemistry teachers, I has always loved fireworks. I've even worked shortly in a firework factory. So of course, we had to have some fireworks, as a short break between all the evenings dancing. My dad and brother fired them from the end of the jetty to get a lovely reflection in the water – the sound echoed across the lake!
